The Cantoneri Winery
Cantoneri was founded in 1997 by the Assennato family in Solicchiata, on Mount Etna. Discover the history of the estate, the vineyards and the passion behind every bottle.
The name of our Sicilian winery comes from the distant memory of a family land, but also from the story of four brothers, as tall as “cantuneri”, the cornerstones of buildings.
The story began in 1997, when Carmelo and Rosa Assennato bought a rustic villa in Solicchiata, in the municipality of Castiglione di Sicilia. It was not yet the wine project it is today. It was a place to understand, even before transforming it.
From 2011 the project took a more defined shape, with new plantings, massal selections and a clear vision: to recover the estate in the hamlet of Castiglione di Sicilia, cultivate it with care and produce wine that brings out its identity without forcing it.
Today our family winery on Mount Etna works an estate of around 20 hectares, 11 of which are planted as one single body.
Each label tells a different part of the estate, from Etna Rosso DOC to Etna Bianco DOC, by way of the Orange Wine. All Cantoneri wines can be tasted at our winery.
